The 2011 Cannon Valley Fair is now history, and we would like to thank all the wonderful volunteers who helped Shepherd’s Center sell tickets at the various gates.  This is a major fund raising effort for us and we could not do this without the generous help of our volunteers!

Be watching your mail for our summer newsletter, which should be arriving in the near future.
Enclosed within the newsletter will be an envelope that can be used for donations to help Shepherd’s Center continue the programs we currently offer. We hope you’ll enjoy reading our newsletter and will consider supporting our work.

Be sure and save the date of Sunday, August 28th and join us at the Cannon Falls High School Auditorium for a
very special concert by Bob Wooten.  Bob spent over 30 years playing guitar with the legendary Johnny
Cash.  He is known as a guitar legend and is listed in the “Top 1000 Guitar Players of the World.”
Wooten is again touring the world, playing Johnny Cash tunes and keeping the magical sound of the Legendary Tennessee Two and Tennessee Three alive to appreciative crowds throughout the United States and Europe. We are fortunate to have secured Bob Wooten and his band for this special concert, with proceeds
benefiting Shepherd’s Center of the Cannon Valley. I hope you can join us for this wonderful concert and tribute to Johnny Cash. Tickets are priced at $20 and available now at Shepherd’s
Center.

If you enjoy country music we’d love to have you join us for our Nashville Show Trip coming up just after
Thanksgiving.  You’ll enjoy 7 days and 6 nights of great shows, tours, the Country Music Hall of Fame, Grand Ol’
Opry and more!  The cost is only $575 for this special trip departing Cannon Falls on November 27thand
returning December 3rd. Contact Shepherd’s Center for more information or to sign up!

Last month I mentioned our financial situation here at Shepherd’s Center, and a special THANK YOU to all who have helped us out with donations this past month.  Besides donations from businesses organizations and individuals, we also received memorial donations for Brandon Wood, Dolly Qualle and Mrs. Verneal Novotny. You can donate to Shepherd’s Center in a variety of ways; memorials, real estate, securities, special bequests, wills,
trusts and more.

Remember, Shepherd’s Center is for EVERYONE, especially those 55 and over.  We would love to have new volunteers help us out in a variety of areas.  If you have certain skills you’d like to share, we’d love to have you
volunteer and keep active, helping and benefiting the community. Shepherd’s Center serves the areas of Cannon Falls, Randolph, Stanton,Dennison, Wastedo, Welch, White Rock, Vasa, Miesville, New Trier and Hampton.  If you’d like to volunteer, give us a call at 507-263-2136, email us at shepherdscenter@frontiernet.net, or stop in at 120 State Street West in Cannon Falls.

That’s it for this month, and I’d like to
close with these words from Benjamin Franklin,“The Constitution only gives
people the right to pursue happiness.
You have to catch it yourself.”
