There is light at the end of the tunnel…yes my friends, the first day of spring is coming up on March 20th! I don’t know about you, but I am definitely ready for some spring like weather.
We have a couple of things coming up in the near future at Shepherd’s Center. On Monday, March 9th we will be hosting a card making class. There is no cost for the class and anyone interested is invited to take part. The class will be led by Jill Shea and will take place at Shepherd’s Center of the Cannon Valley, located at 120 State Street West in Cannon Falls. The hours will be from 10:15 a.m. till 3:00 p.m. Participants are asked to bring a scissors, bag lunch and are free to stay as long as you’d like.
On Monday, March 16th we’re inviting anyone interested in playing the card game 500 to stop in. We will have tables set up, refreshments ready and hope to have an enjoyable time playing cards. We’ll begin at 12:30 p.m. and continue till 3:00 p.m. playing 500 here at Shepherd’s Center…everyone is invited!
We are very excited to be bringing Gordon Fredrickson back for a special presentation to the Cannon Falls Elementary School first graders. As part of our “Book Buddies” program, we will once again present a free, hard cover book to every first grade student. This year, they will be given the book, “If I Were a Farmer – Nancy’s Adventure” by Gordon Fredrickson. The Minnesota author will speak to the students about his books and life on the farm on the morning of April 30th at the Cannon Falls Elementary School.
I want to thank everyone who made financial donations this past month to Shepherd’s Center. We received memorial gifts in honor of Delores Irrthum, Robert Majerus, Lois Kilmer, Richard Stock and Roger Stevens. Thank you for thinking of Shepherd’s Center…your gifts, they are truly appreciated.
Be sure to keep Saturday, May 16th open on your calendar as we welcome home, Caitlyn Smith! That’s right; our concert this year will feature Cannon Falls’ own Caitlyn Smith at the high school auditorium. Tickets are not yet available, but will be in the near future, for the major fund raising event of the year for Shepherd’s Center.
I leave you this month with a quote from the late, Dr. Seuss who was born on March 2, 1904. I’m sure many of you remember reading his books back in your school days. “Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment, until it becomes a memory.” Again, thank you for your continued support for Shepherd’s Center of the Cannon Valley.
