Center presented legendary guitarist and an original member of Johnny Cash’s Tennessee Three, Bob Wootton. Thank you to the over 400 people who attended! Besides Wootton, the band Six Mile Grove also performed. It was a wonderful show with proceeds
benefitting Shepherd’s Center of the Cannon Valley. A special thank you to Thrivent Financial for Lutherans for providing
matching funds for this event!
Shepherd’s Center has an informative “Adventures in Learning” coming up on Friday, September 9th at St. Ansgars Church.
The event starts at 9:30 with local resident and EMT Jeremy Mouw. He’ll discuss the Cannon Falls EMT’s, what to expect if you ever need to call them, and other information beneficial to area residents concerning the Cannon Falls Emergency Medical Technicians. Also speaking will be Chuck Tindell, who is not only a professional speaker, but a noted author as well. His first book, “Seeing Beyond the Wrinkles”, was the recipient of the National Mature Media’s coveted GOLD AWARD. Since the publication he has given presentations around the country on such topics as Spirituality and Aging, The Courage to Be, Aspects of Successful Aging, and the topic he’ll discuss here in Cannon Falls, “Life’s Journey, What’s in Your Suitcase?” Chuck and his wife, Carol, have been married for 48 years and have three grown sons, four grandchildren and reside in Apple Valley. Besides listening to excellent speakers, those attending will also enjoy lunch. Anyone who would like to attend is asked to call Shepherd’s Center at 507-263-2136. In closing, I think back on the remarkable long life of George Burns, who once said, “Ihonestly think it is better to be a failure at something you love than to be a success at something you hate.” I hope everyone is doing something they love!
